Bejoy Jaison

I am a senior technology manager and consultant with focus on strategic leadership, high performance agile delivery and product engineering. Sydney, Australia is my current home.

Career

I have had an exciting career that started as a software engineering intern with Honeywell in 1999 which continued into further 15 years of hardcore product engineering with Siemens, Nokia and Atlassian. A move to Brisbane saw me consulting with ASG for couple of years before I found my way back into strategic product delivery with Suncorp. In 2020 and just before COVID, I moved back to Sydney and have been with Westpac and now ScentreGroup.

I’ve moved across engineering, consulting, delivery and leadership relishing all the learning I’ve had. Somewhere along that journey, I feel I discovered the magic recipe to enabling the agility and quality within teams to create great products that lead to customer delight.

Work and beyond

At work, I love leading with grace, seeking to inspire people around and build high-performing teams to deliver magical outcomes. I enjoy roles where I’m still close to engineering so I can help adapt processes, practices and tools to shift-left quality. My motto now seems to be ’’why manage risk when it is far easier to manage assurance’’.

Outside of work, I seek to inspire and mentor young people by creating safe, creative environments to help acquire practical skills, leadership wisdom, and also discover personal potential and purpose.

Thought leadership

I try looking at problems differently, creating new ideas and have ended up creating words like Quarterfall and Pym-teams.

Conferences and speaking engagements

My flavour for the current season is business agility which is all about leveraging agile to maximise value at the portfolio and organisational level.

Website credits

I have been hand-coding websites since 1999 and can still code HTML and CSS with web standards. However, the availability of good responsive website templates like this one from Pixelarity have helped me focus more on writing rather than design.
